Beef and Mushroom Pie

Ingredients


  • 1 sheet of shortcrust pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry

  • 500 grams lean beef mince

  • 200 grams sliced mushrooms

  • 1 large brown onion diced

  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce

  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 2 teaspoons beef stock powder

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten[to glaze the top of the pie]

  • 1/4 cup oil


Method


In a large frypan place oil and fry the onion

Add the mince and cook till lightly browned

Add the mushrooms and cook till all moisture evaporated

Add the water, flour, stock powder,sauces,and salt and pepper , stir through and cook for 5 minutes till mixture is thick

Set aside to cool

Line a greased pie tin with the shortcrust pastry

Place the mixture in

Place the puff pastry on top and trim the edges

Brush the egg on top

Put into warm oven 200 degrees Celsius and bake for 45-50 minutes till the top is a golden brown
