Beef pastie parcels

Ingredients


  • 4 sheets of frozen puff pastry

  • 500 grams lean beef mince

  • 2 celery stalks finely diced

  • 1 large brown onion diced

  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 1.5 cups beef stock

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic

  • 2 medium potatoes steamed and diced

  • 1/2 cup peas

  • 1 carrot steamed and diced

  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce

  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten[to glaze the top of the pasties ]

  • 1/4 cup oil


Method


In a large frypan place oil and fry the onion

Add the garlic fry for 30 seconds

Add the mince and cook till lightly browned

Add the celery and fry till soft

Add the potatoes, carrot and peas stir through

Add the water, flour, stock powder,sauces,and salt and pepper , stir through and cook for 5 minutes till mixture is thick

Set aside to cool

Line a baking tray with baking paper

Separate the pastry sheets

Defrost the pastry sheets[let them stand on the kitchen bench for about 1 hr ]

Cut the pastry as you desire and place a tablespoon of filling in it

In circles and fold over and pinch the sides ,

Or in rectangles and fold into squares and coat with egg wash

Place in warm oven 180 degrees Celsius and cook till golden brown about 20-25 minutes
