French Onion Tart

COOK TIME: 25 minutes

TOTAL TIME: 45 minutes

1 baking tray approx 32cmx24cm, greased

Oven temp 170degrees Celcius


Ingredients







1/4 cup oil

5 medium brown onions peeled and diced

1.5 sheets puff pastry

5 sprigs thyme

1/2 cup beef stock

1/2 -1 teaspoon salt [according to taste]

80 grams blue vein cheese or gruyere

1.5 sheets puff pastry









Method

In a frypan add the oil and onions and gently fry for 15-20 minutes till soft and lightly browned


Add the thyme and salt and gradually start adding the stock about 2 tablespoons at a time till all used and it has all evaporated, set aside

Place pastry on the base of a lightly greased baking tray , cook in oven 170 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes

Once cooked place onions on top and dabs of cheese , place back in oven and bake for another 10 minutes 170 degrees C, then ready to serve , delicious with a green salad
